History of Alay Kapwa - Creative Ministry Resource Center

The ALAY KAPWA-CREATIVE MINISTRY RESOURCE CENTER is the coordinating body towards the concretization of the School Vision: as CPSGL- Christian Person Sharer of God's Love, for the wholistic formation of the young and development of the Partner Communities.

It provides opportunities to all members of the Canossa Educative Community to take part actively in all the socio-pastoral activities that the school embarks on. The Alay Kapwa Center was organized in 1979 to be the implementing arm of the Canossa Outreach Program of the school.

Inspired by St. Magdalene of Canossa, our Mother Foundress, the school extends material and non-material assistance to our less fortunate brothers and sisters through the varied activities.

In 1983, the Canossa Outreach Program prospered. Outreach activities through the (SAP) Student Activity Program were given attention. It serves as the implementing arm of the school for community development and extension services.

Several major projects/activities like the Mothers' Club, scholarship program and income-generating projects were made possible through the parents' and other benefactors' open and backdoor support. It was at the same year that the school adopted three depressed communities, namely; Dulongbayan, Kuligligan and Pasonville.

After thorough assessment of the program, in year 2001-2003, a shift in the orientation towards the enfleshment of the school vision started. Thus, recasting of the Community Outreach Program under the umbrella of Alay Kapwa Center is deemed necessary.

Alay Kapwa Center was renamed Alay Kapwa-Creative Ministry Resource Center from the very concept of Youth Ministry, as ministry to, with, by and for the poor. Outreach activities of the entire school are directly coordinated to the AK-CMRC, to ensure continuity and relevancy of the activities and for monitoring and evaluation.

The restructuring of the AK-CMRC focuses on the organization and development of the Partner Communities: Barangay Soledad & Santiago 2, San Pablo City. Partner Communities are considered, because these communities with its leaders provide the venue for the young to be in touch with the realities of life in the community and society. These areas facilitate the process of learning and development of the young to be Sharer of God's Love and contribute to the enhancement of community-based ministries. Organization and development of partner communities have a dual role, because aside from being an extension of learning of the young, it is also geared towards poverty alleviation through income-generating projects.
